Why a range of drops? You know the sensitivity of your own skin more than anyone else. I personally like stronger blends because I enjoy the smell profile. I prefer 1 drop of each oil per mL of FCO (less when I use hot oils). But that’s my personal preference. You can absolutely use less. I like to suggest that people start with the lower amount of oil. You can always add more oil but you can’t take drops out.

doTERRA Essential Oils
I recommend only one brand of essential oils. Please do not use these tips if you are going to go out and buy the cheapest brands that you can find.
When it comes to essential oils, you get what you pay for. There’s hardly any regulation on the essential oil market so you have to do your due diligence when purchasing oils.
After research, I fell on doTERRA. DoTERRA holds themself to the highest purity and safety standards on the market. Plus, they hold themselves to fair trade and sustainability practices.
You can learn more about doTERRA’s CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) standards on my blog post about it.
You can get doTERRA essential oils for full price here. Or you can get a costco-like wholesale membership and pay 25% less than retail. Learn more about the wholesale membership here.

Hi — I use the FLOOM recipe for sinus infections, and it works. Would this also work for a UTI?
Kate says
Hi Lynne!
I use the FLOOM recipe ANYtime I need extra immune support – no matter what environmental threat I am facing. For “firey” issues I use a roller bottle blend with lemongrass and juniper berry and sandalwood topically over my bladder.

I got this recipe without the Frankincese called “Flu Shot”. Since I don’t get a flu shot I started this in January and use it everynight. So far, no flu or cold. I wonder if my system can become immune to this and not be affective after a while or if I stop will my system be susceptible to catching a flu or cold?
Kate says
Hi Jane! Yes that’s the conventional name for this blend – but for FDA compliance reasons we call it FLOOM on the blog.
I recommend that people take OnGuard oil or capsules daily for general immune support. For actively dealing with environmental issues I recommend this blend. You won’t “get used to it” but just the OnGuard is a little gentler on the body.
