Top Essential Oils for Skin
It’s funny how the world seems so backwards sometimes. We know that harsh chemicals are bad for our skin and that they cause wrinkles and do bad things for our health in general.
Yet, we still use chemical-filled products one our faces.
How does that make any sense at all? We know that these things are bad for us, yet in the hopes of finer lines, we lather crap onto our skin.
Stop the madness.
Try making your own skin care systems using completely natural ingredients like raw coconut oil, jojoba oil, and essential oils. Just mix a carrier oil (like coconut oil) with the essential oil(s) of your choice and apply daily. Your skin will thank you (and so will your wallet).
Frankincense Essential Oil
Try using Frankincense daily to help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and even supports healthy cellular function. Add it to a homemade cream or apply directly with a roller bottle. What great about this is that it not only helps the skin, but it also promotes feelings of relaxation and helps to balance the mood! That’s a great way to start or end your day.
Lavender Essential Oil
Use Lavender on even the most sensitive skin to soothe occasional skin irritations. When my skin needs help, Lavender is usually the first one a grab. Definitely consider adding this oil to your bedtime routine. Apply to with coconut oil and shea butter for a skin help but also because Lavender is great at reducing anxious feelings and promoting peaceful sleep.
Melaleuca Essential Oil
Start with Melaleuca (and Lavender) if you are a teen in need of some skin help. Seriously, this essential oil, also called Tea Tree oil, is renowned for its cleansing and rejuvenating effects on the skin.
Sandalwood Essential Oil
When I think of Sandalwood, I think skin. Sandalwood is my #1 favorite powerhouse essential oil for skin. It helps to reduce those skin imperfections and it also healthy-looking and smooth skin. Sandalwood is one of the best essential oils for skin.
Geranium Essential Oil
Just like the beautiful Geranium flowers, Geranium essential oil beautifies the skin. It promotes a healthy glow and the appearance of healthy, smooth skin.
Juniper Berry Essential Oil
Juniper Berry is different from the other oils on this list because it’s great function for skin is that it acts as a natural skin toner! Apply one drop with coconut oil to promote a clear complexion.
Myrrh Essential Oil
Here’s another oil you can add to your coconut oil and shea butter and apply to your face to reduce the appearance of those fine lines and wrinkles. PLUS this oil is great for uplifting your mood – so use in your morning routine!
Rose Essential Oil
Rose is a super cool oil. It actually helps your body regulate itself so that your skin balances its moisture levels! Say what?? Neat! It also helps to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and promotes even skin tone.
But BEWARE.
Most Rose Essential Oils on the market are fake. Actually, most essential oils on the market are fake (yup, even those labeled 100% pure – insert eye roll here). Be careful. The FDA doesn’t really regulate essential oils so getting that oil from your local health food or drug store could definitely be the wrong choice. I choose to get my oils, after a lot of research, from doTERRA because I believe in their mission and I like their high quality standards and open policy about testing. Guys, you can actually go to sourcetoyou.com and see the test results proving the oil you purchased is real. You plug in the batch number and it pulls up the test results. It’s awesome. Anyway, I digress. Just know that a REAL 5 mL bottle Rose should cost somewhere between $280 and $400 a bottle. Think about how expensive a bouquet of roses is. And now picture 1.1+ rose petals – that’ll get you only 30mL of Rose essential oil. Crazy. Just don’t let yourself be fooled.
